Job summary

General Plastics Inc. is seeking a production-oriented individual to maintain CNC operations at target rates and learn additional finishing techniques for shipping per job orders.

You will package parts with correct labels, use heat guns and sonic gauges to ensure quality, spot defects, and verify samples against required specifications. The role requires reading job travelers, performing measurements with fixtures and tools, and maintaining ERP records while upholding 5S and safety standards in

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Quality Control (QC) experience helpful.
  • Mechanical aptitude preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as Employee Handbook, safety rules, and Job Travelers.
  • Able to communicate effectively with other employees.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide, using whole numbers.
  • Able to interpret a variety of specifications and information furnished in written or oral form.
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, and talk or hear.
  • Must occasionally lift up to 50 pounds and have good manual dexterity.
  • Must work in a hot/cool, dirty, dusty, and sometimes noisy environment.

Responsibilities

  • Makes sure the machine is running at or above established CNC rates.
  • Learn multiple techniques including hand trimming, scraping, polishing, and attaching components for shipping per job order.
  • Package parts and attach shipping labels; label gaylords properly.
  • Use heat guns and sonic gauges to maximize quality and production efficiencies.
  • Identify defects by comparing to samples to eliminate blemishes and defects.
  • Log into all jobs assigned to.
  • Read the Job Traveler and follow requirements.
  • Verify machine has a signed sample and current parts match the sample.
  • Assess quality using test fixtures, measuring devices, or visual observation.
  • Set up and use a bandsaw to cut scrap to an acceptable size.
  • Count parts accurately.
  • Ensure paperwork is complete and entered in ERP; keep area clean with 5S.
  • Follow all safety procedures to create a safe work environment.
  • Abides by 5S; demonstrate continual improvement in quality and quantity of work.
  • Other tasks as assigned by management.

Job description

  • Makes sure the machine is running at or above established CNC rates.
  • Learning multiple techniques including hand trimming and scraping, polishing, attaching components, etc. to complete parts for shipping per job order.
  • Packages parts, attaches correct shipping labels and labels gaylords properly.
  • Uses tools including heat guns and sonic gauges to maximize quality and production efficiencies, to meet established forming standards for production under general supervision.
  • Identify defects by comparing them to samples to eliminate any blemishes, gloss level issues, chill marks, warping or other material defects.
  • Logs into all jobs assigned to.
  • Reads the Job Traveler and follows requirements.
  • Verifies machine has a signed sample & current parts being machined or formed match the sample.
  • Assesses quality as required using test fixtures, measuring devices and/or visual observation.
  • Sets up and uses a bandsaw to cut up and trim scrap to an acceptable size.
  • Counts parts accurately
  • Ensures all paperwork is complete, accurate, and turned in at the end of the shift.
  • Ensures information is entered into the ERP system accurately.
  • Ensures the machine is clean and organized. Make sure all 5S tools are in place and accounted for and old paperwork and labels are removed from the work area.
  • Follow all safety procedures to create a safe work environment for all personnel.
  • Abides by 5S
  • Demonstrates continual improvement in quality and quantity of work performed.
  • Other tasks as assigned by management.
