Job summary

Great Southern Wood Preserving, Inc. is seeking a Lumber Treating Operator to join our team in a full-time role with competitive pay and a full benefits package. This position focuses on efficiently pressure treating wood products while maintaining quality standards.

Responsibilities include operating treatment equipment, recording test results, and coordinating with the plant manager on recipes and expenses. A High School diploma or GED is preferred and lumber experience is a plus.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED preferred.
  • Three to six months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Lumber experience a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Process material through treatment by counting material to be treated into charges, enter information into computer system, select treating cycle, and begin treatment.
  • Drill each charge to check for penetration of preservative, retention of preservative, and judge samples against set standards.
  • Record test results for inspection by third party inspector, maintain ledger with sample/test information.
  • Post each charge into computer database system to relieve white wood inventory of product treated.
  • Monitor efficiency of treating schedules.
  • Check solution in work tanks once per shift, collect samples and run tests to check for all chemical components.
  • Log solution test results into ledger and make necessary adjustments to remain within standards.
  • Work in coordination with plant manager to track treating recipes, expenses, and any adjustments that need to be made in the treating process.
  • Maintain housekeeping in treating office, tank farm, and around cylinders.
  • Troubleshoot equipment problems or breakdowns.
  • Assist in picking up lumber and other materials as needed.
