Job summary

Primetals Technologies USA in Columbus, MS is seeking a 2nd shift Mechanic to perform preventive maintenance on production machinery at customer sites. Applicants must pass a pre-employment physical exam and drug screen; duties are performed on location.

Essential tasks include reading measuring instruments, tooling use, and maintaining a safe, clean work environment while focusing on reducing downtime and maintaining equipment reliability.

Qualifications

• Current, valid driver license.
• Ability to read and interpret measuring instruments.
• Preferred candidates will possess previous industrial/mechanical maintenance experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance on production machines following diagrams, manuals and specifications.
• Identify problems by observing machinery while running and using precision measuring tools.
• Remove defective parts with hoists, cranes and hand/power tools; replace as needed.
• Check dimensional changes and adjust components using calipers and micrometers.
• Minimize downtime through effective preventive maintenance and proper housekeeping.
