Job summary

CertainTeed's Ennis Roofing facility seeks a Mechanic I to maintain and repair production equipment, ensuring safety, quality, and uptime. You will perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot mechanical issues, and support 5S standards on the shop floor.

The role requires reading blueprints, using hand tools, welding, and the ability to work 8–12 hour shifts on-site, including lifting up to 50 lbs and wearing a respirator. A high school diploma or GED is required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Minimum 3 years as Mechanic I.
• Ability to read, write and do basic math.
• Must be able to operate hand tools and power tools.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work 8–12 hours on feet.
• Must follow OSHA safety training and LOTO procedures.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance and lubrication on production lines and equipment.
• Replace chains, belts, valves, bearings, sprockets, bushings, and gearboxes as needed.
• Troubleshoot mechanical problems and repair equipment on the line.
• Fabricate jigs, hangers, and guards from blueprints or sketches; weld as required.
• Work independently or with the team in a plant with safety considerations.
