Job summary

3M is seeking a 2nd Shift Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic in Maplewood, MN. The role involves hands-on maintenance of HVAC systems, chillers, pumps and control logic, with a strong emphasis on safety and documentation.

You will apply electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical principles, operate precision instruments, and troubleshoot malfunctions. A two-year HVAC credential and 2+ years of related experience are required, along with a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or certification in a two-year Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration program (completed and verified prior to start).
• Minimum of two years’ work experience in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic Craft within the past seven years.
• Universal Refrigeration Certification.
• Possess a current and valid Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Understand and apply operating principles of electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical systems (chillers, pumps, fans, thermostats, etc.).
• Set up and read precision testing instruments per manufacturer specs, including leak detectors and thermometers.
• Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and identify replacements as needed.
• Maintain control logic for 3M building HVAC unit controls and related software.
• Complete required shop paperwork and use the company reporting system.
