Job summary

EUROPTEC USA LLC is seeking a Relief Technician on 2nd shift in Chicago, IL to provide relief coverage across the tempering, spray booth, hanger, cutting line and final inspector roles.

The position requires attention to detail, adherence to PPE and safety rules, and the ability to quickly assist several production stations while keeping accurate records.

This full-time role includes standing, lifting and operating multiple pieces of glass production equipment on a 2nd shift schedule.

Qualifications

• Must have good attention to detail to ensure that the coating and Ohmage value of the glass are in accordance with customer specifications.
• Noted training/qualification upon notification by department head that the employee is qualified to perform the position.
• High school diploma or GED strongly desired; trade school certification helpful.
• Basic understanding of chemicals used in the production process and how to mix them.
• Ability to understand work instructions and communicate problems to the Production Supervisor.

Responsibilities

• Tempering oven: maintain temp, regulate glass speed, inspect temper, and log rejects.
• Spray booth: set up per production parameters, monitor equipment and apply coatings.
• Hanger: handle glass pieces, load onto conveyors, inspect defects, and record issues.
• Cutting line: operate grinders, washers, and conveyors; mix wash solution and monitor tanks.
• Final inspector/packer: inspect glass, wrap and pack to customer specs, label bundles.
• Maintain cleanliness and wear proper PPE; follow safety procedures.
