Job summary

McGill Compost is looking for a General Laborer for our Waverly, VA facility. You will support daily composting, production, and site operations, handling materials and maintaining cleanliness to help keep operations efficient and safe.

This is a physically active role requiring reliability and teamwork, with potential overtime based on business needs. Team members contribute to high-quality compost and soil products for agriculture and environmental sustainability.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to perform physically demanding work throughout the shift.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and work for extended periods.
• Reliable transportation and dependable attendance.
• Outdoor industrial environment experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform general labor duties throughout the facility and compost site.
• Assist with loading, unloading, and moving materials.
• Maintain cleanliness of work areas and equipment.
• Remove debris and maintain housekeeping standards throughout the site.
• Support equipment operators and production personnel as needed.
• Assist with compost production and processing activities.

2nd Shift: Monday-Friday, 2:30 PM - 11:30PM
Occasional overtime and weekends may be required based on business needs

The Role
As a General Laborer, you'll play an important role in supporting daily composting, production, and site operations. You'll assist with material handling, site maintenance, equipment cleanup, housekeeping, and supporting production personnel throughout the facility.

This is a physically active position where reliability, teamwork, safety, and a strong work ethic are critical to success.

Every day, your efforts help support the production of high-quality compost and soil products that benefit agriculture, landscaping, and the environment.

What You'll Do

• Ability to repeatedly lift and move up to 50 pounds

• Ability to wear required PPE at all times
