Job summary

Quanex in Owatonna, Minnesota seeks a Machine Operator on 2nd shift to set up and operate gear fabrication machinery, including cutting, grinding, and heat treatment processes. The role emphasizes quality control and productivity in a team environment.

Qualifications

• Problem solving and decision making to determine setups for manufactured products.
• Experience in quality assurance to verify parts meet standards.
• Strong interpersonal skills for interaction with operators, leads, inspectors, and maintenance.
• Above average mechanical aptitude and skill using measuring devices and hand tools.
• Ability to read shop orders and related documents.
• Fluency in English, written and spoken.

Responsibilities

• Perform required machine setups per specifications, including tool changes and fixtures.
• Use gauges, calipers and other tools to check parts against blueprints.
• Make machine adjustments and tool changes to maintain quality.
• Keep work area and machines clean; apply lubricants and coolants as required.
• Notify Lead of machine malfunctions and assist with basic repairs.
