Job Description

CHEP is looking for a motivated Sit-Down Forklift Operator to join our team in Wilmington, MA. As a Sit Down Forklift Operator, with a strong emphasis on safety, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a forklift to supply and retrieve pallets or materials from various departments within the plant. Your role involves making decisions to optimize material movement and improve the overall efficiency of plant operations. Additionally, you may be required to perform routine maintenance tasks such as lubricating and replacing liquefied-gas tanks on the forklift. If you have warehouse experience, a strong work ethic, and the ability to work through 8 hours of fast‑paced shift, a Forklift Operator position with CHEP could be a great fit.

Key Accountabilities

• Operate the forklift to efficiently move pallets, containers, and materials throughout the plant facility.
• Move levers and press pedals to drive the truck and control the movement of the lifting apparatus.
• Position forks, a lifting platform, or other lifting device under, over, or around loaded pallets, and transport the load to the designated area.
• Conduct a forklift inspection before operating and promptly report any issues to the maintenance team for resolution.
• Assist in loading and unloading trucks or containers with pallets or materials using the forklift, ensuring proper placement and securement of items.
• Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines while operating machinery.
• Maintain awareness of pedestrian and vehicle traffic in the work area.
• Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) daily.
• Report any safety hazards or concerns to supervisors immediately.

Working Conditions

Compensation and Benefits

• Weekly pay with direct deposit
• 2nd Shift: 3:30 PM – 12:00 AM, Monday through Friday with overtime
