Position Title: Forklift Operator

Reporting into: Supervisor

Business and Department: Materials Management

Position Purpose/Summary: The Forklift Operator moves assigned materials (raw or finished goods) within a warehouse or production environment, using forklifts, pallet jacks, or physical force as needed.

Direct Reports: None

Responsibilities include:

  • Loading and unloading trucks, supplying production areas with products.
  • Removing finished goods to storage areas.
  • Applying MTS tags and using handheld scanners for barcode tracking.
  • Documenting, counting, and verifying customer piece counts for shipping and receiving.
  • Managing paperwork for proper identification of incoming and outgoing materials.
  • Maintaining inventory accuracy in computer systems and physical locations.
  • Loading/unloading trailers and verifying quantities.
  • Providing lot and batch numbers for shipping.
  • Performing cycle counts and product disposal as needed.
  • Supporting production and warehouse goals with a continuous work pace.
  • Performing routine vehicle maintenance.
  • Maintaining cGMPs and housekeeping standards.
  • Exercising good judgment and following safety and food safety regulations.
  • Operating equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Building effective working relationships within the department.
  • Training in handling hazardous materials annually.

Key Performance Indicators:

  • Accurate documentation of cycle counts and maintenance.
  • Adherence to cGMP standards.
  • Safe operation of industrial trucks.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Current forklift certification
  • At least one year of forklift operation experience
  • Basic math skills
  • Ability to follow directions and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Team-oriented attitude, safety-conscious, dependable

Technology/Software:

  • Ability to use a computer or RF scanners; WMS experience preferred

Communication:

Effective at receiving and conveying information to avoid misunderstandings.

Physical Capabilities:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly, retrieve merchandise from shelves up to 6 feet high, and work in various environmental conditions.

Movement & Hearing:

  • Full mobility, ability to sit for long periods, and function in noisy environments.

Visual:

Ability to see clearly to operate machinery safely.
