Job summary

West Plains R-7 School District is seeking a 2nd shift Custodian to maintain clean and safe facilities for students and staff. The role requires physical work including lifting and moving heavy objects, operating cleaning equipment, and performing routine building maintenance.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Ability to perform essential job functions.
• Effective interpersonal skills.
• Ability to lift 55 pounds occasionally.
• Ability to push/pull a minimum of 20 pounds frequently.

Responsibilities

• Perform major cleaning tasks: vacuuming, wet-mopping, sweeping, dusting, trash removal and maintaining chalkboards and fountains.
• Clean restrooms and fixtures; ensure cleanliness and disinfection.
• Wash windows and sills; clean door glass.
• Replace light bulbs and refill dispensers; move furniture as needed.
• Report major repairs to Head Custodian and support site operations.
• Work overtime and weekends to meet district events and facility schedules.
• Ensure doors and windows are securely locked; navigate stairs daily.
• Assist in summer cleaning and grounds maintenance, including snow removal when required.
