Job summary

L3Harris Technologies in Norfolk, VA is seeking a 2nd Shift Shop Supervisor to manage the daily operations of the machine, sheetmetal, and weld shops. This working floor supervisor will build products, manage workflow, ensure quality, and track KPIs to optimize production efficiency.

Ideal candidates have strong leadership, blueprints literacy, and 5+ years in fabrication environments, with a Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 6 years of prior related experience
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Fabrication shop environment
• Strong understanding of fabrication processes including machining and welding as well as tools, and equipment needed for this type of workflow
• Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications
• Excellent leadership and team management skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate the activities of Fabrication shop personnel, including machinists, welders, and technicians
• Develop and implement production schedules to meet customer demands and production targets
• Monitor and track key performance metrics, including productivity, quality, and safety
• Ensure that all machinery and equipment are maintained and operating efficiently
• Implement and enforce safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment
• Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide coaching and development opportunities for team members
• Collaborate with engineering, quality assurance, and other departments to resolve production issues and improve processes
• Maintain accurate records of production activities, including work orders, material usage, and labor hours
• Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance workflow and productivity
• Ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements
• Will track Production Output, Cycle Time, Quality Control, Labor Efficiency and Safety Incidents
