Job summary

Ashers Chocolate Co. in Souderton, PA, is seeking a dedicated feeder/packer to operate the chocolate coating line and feed product onto the conveyor, ensuring orderly flow and proper boxing of finished goods.

You will visually inspect products, weigh and seal boxes, and assist with machine operation and housekeeping. A high school diploma or GED and reliability are required; prior food packaging experience is a plus, with a strong focus on GMP/HACCP standards.

Responsibilities

• Picks up products from trays/boards, aligning them on the conveyor belt, while preventing pieces from coming into contact with each other as they continue through the coating process.
• Mix chocolate and nuts into molds and transfer the molds onto the conveyor.
• Must visually inspect product during the feeding process for any signs of damage or nonconformity.
• Picks up product from moving conveyor and align in boxes.
• Pack up product from bulk boxes into pre-packaged boxes.
• Visually inspect finished products to ensure they conform to guidelines.
• Weigh, seal, close, label, and code date packaged boxes; place into cartons.
• Operate carton tape machine, egg rolling machine, mold and plaque washing machines.
• Clean work area and wipe down equipment and machinery.
• Perform special project work as assigned by department lead or supervisor.
• May be assigned to assist co-workers in other departments when necessary

Education:

Experience:

Previous experience packing, feeding, or experience in food manufacturing preferred, but not required.

Knowledge and Skills:

Must possess the knowledge and understanding of good manufacturing practices, as well as HACCP standards

Work Environment/Physical Demands:

Approximately 100% of the work is performed in a food manufacturing facility which is climate controlled and contains known allergens. The feeder/packer must be able to continuously walk, stand, sit, squat, or kneel. Must be able to work in an environment with extreme temperature changes ranging from 60° to an excess of 100°. Ability to walk over various working surfaces including carpeting, hard wood, and concrete floors is required. Must be able to lift a minimum of 50lb with or without the aid of material handling equipment.
