Job summary

Asher's Chocolate Co. in Souderton, PA, is seeking a detail‑oriented feeder/packer to operate the coating line, feed product to conveyors, and pack finished items for shipment.

You will inspect products, weigh and label boxes, and run allied equipment, while following GMP/HACCP guidelines and safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Mix chocolate and nuts into molds and transfer to conveyor.
• Visually inspect products for damage or nonconformity.
• Picks up product from moving conveyor and align in boxes.
• Pack products from bulk boxes into pre-packaged boxes.
• Weigh, label, and code date packaged boxes; place into cartons.
• Operate carton tape, egg rolling, mold and plaque washing machines.
• Clean work area and equipment; maintain hygiene practices.
• Assist co-workers in other departments when necessary.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Picks up products from trays/boards, aligning them on the conveyor belt, while preventing pieces from coming into contact with each other as they continue through the coating process.
• Mix chocolate and nuts into molds and transfer the molds onto the conveyor.
• Must visually inspect product during the feeding process for any signs of damage or nonconformity.
• Picks up product from moving conveyor and align in boxes.
• Pick up product from bulk boxes and packs into "pre-packaged" boxes.
• Visually inspect finished products to ensure that they conform to pre-established guidelines.
• Weigh, pad, close, label, and code date packaged boxes. The boxes are then placed into cartons.
• Operate carton tape machine, egg rolling machine, mold and plaque washing machines.
• Clean work area and wipe down equipment and machinery.
• Perform special project work as assigned by department lead or supervisor.
• May be assigned to assist co-workers in other departments when necessary
• Responsible to Department Manager and subordinate staff members to:
• Able to interrelate with department personnel.
• Ensure that safety practices are always exercised.
• Responsible to QA to:
• Ensure that the department is maintained in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices, which includes housekeeping and hygiene practices
• Ensure that product quality conditions and requirements are consistently met and documented.
• Must be a positive contributor when interacting with other Asher's team members and customers at all times.
• Must bring a positive attitude (Can do and What Can I Do to Help) to the position
• Perform specific tasks as requested and required by the Asher's Management team.

Work Environment/Physical Demands:

Approximately 100% of the work is performed in a food manufacturing facility which is climate controlled and contains known allergens. The feeder/packer must be able to continuously walk, stand, sit, squat, or kneel. Must be able to work in an environment with extreme temperature changes ranging from 60° to an excess of 100%. Ability to walk over various working surfaces including carpeting, hard wood, and concrete floors is required. Must be able to lift a minimum of 50lb with or without the aid of material handling equipment.
