Job summary

Schindler Elevator Corporation in Hanover, PA seeks a 2nd Shift Electronic Test Technician to perform extensive tests on electronic systems and components. You will read schedules, schematics and data sheets to determine testing procedures and equipment, and connect units to wave generators, test stands and meters for comprehensive evaluation.

You will trace faults, replace defective wiring or components, and record defect data for production repair.

Qualifications

  • 2 years of technical training in electronic technology (preferred).
  • GED or high school diploma.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of electronic, mechanical and electro‑mechanical tests on electronic systems, subassemblies, PCBs and parts to ensure they function per specifications.
  • Read test schedules, work orders, wiring diagrams, schematics, data sheets and test manuals to determine testing procedures and equipment.
  • Connect units to equipment and instruments such as wave generator, test stands, hi‑pot tester, meters, oscilloscope and other test gear.
  • Interpret dials indicating voltage, frequency, distortion and capacitance during testing.
  • Trace defective circuits and locate faults using electronic theory and test equipment.
  • Replace defective wiring/components or tag defects for repair in production.
  • Conduct functional tests of systems and parts from diagrams and specifications.
  • Visually inspect units for defects like broken wires or soldering issues.
  • Record defects and issue reports; assist in additional testing tasks as needed.
  • Audit compliance with drawings and specifications; perform preventive maintenance on equipment.

2nd Shift Electronic Test Technician

Responsibilities
  • Perform a variety of electronic, mechanical and electro‑mechanical tests on electronic systems, subassemblies, printed circuit boards, and parts to ensure unit functions according to specifications or to determine cause of unit failure using full range of electronic test instruments.
  • Read test schedule, work orders, wiring diagrams, schematics, data sheets, C.O.E., test manuals, performance specifications to ascertain testing procedure and equipment to be used.
  • Connect units to be tested to equipment and instruments such as wave generator, various test stands and/or fixtures, hi‑pot tester, ohmmeter, voltmeter, ammeter, resistance bridge, oscilloscope, Genrad and Zehntel.
  • Understand dials that indicate electronic characteristics such as voltage, frequency, distortion induction and capacitance.
  • Trace circuits of defective units, using knowledge of electronic theory and electronic test equipment to locate defects such as shorts or faulty components.
  • Replace defective wiring and components using hand tools and soldering iron, or record defects on a tag attached to the unit and return it to the production department for repair.
  • Perform functional tests of systems, subassemblies and parts under complete operating sequence from diagrams and test specifications.
  • Examine units visually for physical defects such as broken wire, excess solder, soldering connections and any lodged foreign matter.
  • Record type and quantity of defects for record purposes. Issue defect reports as required.
  • Assist in other testing assignments equal to or less than the scope of this description.
  • Conduct audits to ensure compliance with the drawing and specification requirements.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on electronic control and mechanical equipment.
