Job summary

Sonoco is seeking an Electro Mechanic for the 2nd shift at Merced, CA. You will support the maintenance team, troubleshoot equipment, and schedule work orders to minimize downtime.

Qualified candidates have 5+ years manufacturing experience, an AS degree (or equivalent) in Electronics/Electrical controls or Industrial Engineering, and PLC/Servo drive expertise (Allen Bradley/Siemens). Wage starts at $27.06–$39.39 per hour with a $0.40 shift premium.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years manufacturing experience.
• AS Degree, or equivalent in Electronics, Electrical controls, or Industrial Engineering/Technology.
• PLC ladder logic troubleshooting and strong problem-solving experience.
• Must have excellent experience with AC/DC servo drives, stepper motors and VFDs.
• Configuration and programming experience is a plus.
• Hands-on with strong electrical and mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills and own your tools.

Responsibilities

• Work with Process Development and Advanced Manufacturing Engineering teams to improve equipment and process.
• Repairs electrical equipment/systems and control circuits; replaces faulty electrical equipment as needed.
• Installs electrical wiring and equipment; new electrical services; replaces and repairs wiring as needed.
• Responsible for work orders and work scheduling using enterprise asset management system.
• Performs minor and major repairs of buildings and equipment; maintenance of machine parts and dies.
• Assist in reducing downtime and improving quality.
