Job summary
City of Minneapolis seeks a skilled Fleet Mechanic to perform mechanical repairs and preventive maintenance on a diverse City and Park Board fleet, including complex electrical and hydraulic systems.
On-site work location with 2nd shift 2:30 PM–11:00 PM; shift differential may apply for ASE/EVT certs and night shift. CDL with airbrake and forklift cert within specified timelines are required.
Qualifications
- Completion of an 18–24 month automotive maintenance/repair program.
- Three years of motor vehicle/equipment repair experience including one year with medium or heavy-duty vehicles and diesel engines.
- Equivalency may be 5+ years of related work experience.
- Licenses: valid driver's license; Class B CDL with airbrake within 1 year; Forklift Certification within 6 months; DOT Certification within 1 year.
- Selection process evaluates education and experience; passing score criteria.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic systems, transmissions, engines, electrical systems on City fleet.
- Fabricate parts with gas/electric welding.
- Install/repair electrical wiring and overhauls engines.
- Perform preventive maintenance per OEM standards.
- Document repairs and maintain records with EMIS/M5.
- Drive snowplow equipment and perform annual DOT inspections.
