Team 1 Plastics in Albion, Michigan is seeking a Die Setter to keep our 24/7 molding operation running safely and efficiently. You will hang and remove molds, changeover processes, and support machine readiness for production.

The role requires basic math, mechanical aptitude, and teamwork in a fast-paced facility powered by robotics and automation. You will document productivity, assist with troubleshooting, and help maintain a clean, safe work environment.

About the role

The Die Setter plays a critical role in keeping production running safely and efficiently by completing mold changes and preparing injection molding machines for production. This position hangs and removes molds, shuts down and starts up molding machines, performs accurate and efficient process changeovers, and makes minor process adjustments as needed. Responsibilities include assisting with troubleshooting process and secondary equipment issues, maintaining required productivity and quality documentation, identifying maintenance needs, and keeping work areas clean and safe. If you have strong mechanical aptitude, work well in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, and take pride in completing safe, accurate, and efficient work, this role is a great fit.

Schedule

The schedule for this position is Monday-Friday from 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.

What you'll do

• Hang and remove tools from injection molding machines.
• Shutdown injection molding machines.
• Perform accurate and efficient process changeovers.
• Assist in effectively troubleshooting process and secondary equipment problems.
• Maintain proper documentation of productivity and quality as required.
• Submit work order requests for maintenance issues.
• Maintain a safe work environment by cleaning up work stations.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma
• Mechanical aptitude and experience using basic hand tools.
• Must obtain Overhead Crane license.
• Excellent basic math skills.
• Ability to communicate in a professional manner verbally and written.
• Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
• Ability to work well with others in a fast-paced work environment.
• Willingness to complete training and higher-education courses.

Desired Qualifications

• Completion of outside plastics courses.
• Ability to create new setups.
• Strong working knowledge of computers and applications.

Physical Requirements

• Frequent reaching with hands and arms.
• Frequent lifting, bending, and stooping while carrying a load.
• Ability to stand and walk for a 12 hour shift.
• Ability to maneuver very heavy dies into a machine using a crane and properly tighten with a torque wrench.
• Ability to lift or maneuver 55 pounds.

The pay range for this role is:

20.19 - 22.71 USD per hour (Team 1 Plastics)
