Job Summary

As our Process Technician, you'll own the full lifecycle of each job - from mold changes and start-up through first article approval, operator training, and final shutdown. This role includes hands-on die/mold setting responsibilities: preparing injection molding machines and auxiliary equipment, setting molds into machines, setting barrel heats, process, robot, and end-of-arm tooling (EOAT), nozzle replacement, and all related water, air, and hydraulic connections. In our low to mid volume sampling environment, this role typically runs 3-4 sets per Process Technician per shift. This is a hands-on role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced injection molding environment and takes pride in producing quality parts right the first time.

This position is for 2nd Shift with hours of 3:30pm-12:00am.

Top Accountabilities

Ensure safe and efficient mold changes and job start-ups, maintain accurate documentation of manufacturing processes, and collaborate cross-functionally with operators, quality, and project teams to deliver successful, high-quality production outcomes.

Job Responsibilities
  • Read operator and setup instructions; fully understand the function of the mold, including hydraulic core sequence, water diagram, etc.
  • Set barrel heats after ensuring the IMM is purged of previous material.
  • Clean mold back plates (clamping surface) and platens before and after each mold change.
  • Install and remove molds in accordance with established procedures, including proper crane use.
  • Install all connections needed for a mold change - pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical signals, hot runner, RJG, and cores - without damaging components, verifying for leaks and proper signal relation.
  • Follow water line diagrams as needed; ensure all water lines are connected, flow is verified, and safety locks are installed.
  • Test hydraulic and/or pneumatic lines for proper function when applicable.
  • Pull existing molds from the press and return all unused equipment to its proper location.
  • Perform mold changes, start-ups, and process troubleshooting.
  • Support first article inspections using basic quality measurement tools.
  • Train operators and communicate effectively across teams.
  • Support material handler responsibilities as needed.
  • Maintain a safe, clean work area free of trip hazards; remove unused components from the area surrounding the IMM after mold changes.
