Job summary

Family Dollar is seeking an Area Supervisor at a distribution center to oversee daily shift operations and staff performance. The role focuses on staffing, safety, and productivity across multiple departments in a high-volume environment.

You will coach associates, monitor quality, and ensure effective communication with other DC functions. The position requires flexibility with shifts and a strong focus on achieving operational goals.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• 1–3 years supervisory/management experience in an automated distribution or production environment is preferred.
• Familiarity with RF and pick-to-light systems is desirable.
• Must be flexible to work multi-shifts in a fast-paced production environment.
• Excellent oral/written communication and interpersonal skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the shift is adequately staffed and production, quality, and safety standards are met.
• Provide orientation, coaching, and training to assigned personnel on processes and systems; administer corrective actions as needed.
• Create a positive team environment through motivation and active communication.
• Coordinate across departments to achieve daily operational goals within the DC.
• Maintain housekeeping standards and conduct routine inspections; process work orders for repairs as required.
• Input data for required reporting as needed.

Area Supervisor: Retail Distribution Center

Monday through Friday 3pm to 11:30pm

What you'll be doing:

Exact job functions will vary based on area assigned, however the primary responsibilities are as follows:

• Ensure that the work area is appropriately staffed for the assigned shift and that production, quality and safety standards are maintained.
• Provide orientation, coaching and training to assigned personnel on department processes and systems. Provide corrective actions as appropriate.
• Create team environment through motivation and positive feedback of associates and through active communication.
• Communicate effectively across departments within DC to achieve daily operational goals.
• Ensure housekeeping standards are met daily.
• Conduct physical inspections of assigned work area/equipment. Prepare work orders for repairs and requisitions for replacement of equipment.
• Provide data input as needed for required reporting.

What we need from you:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• A minimum of 1 - 3 years of supervisory/management experience in an automated distribution or production environment
• Familiarity with Radio Frequency and pick-to-light systems desired
• Must be flexible to work multi-shifts in a fast-paced production environment
• Excellent oral, written communication and interpersonal skills are key for all positions, as well as strong planning and organization skills
• MS Office Suite proficiency a plus
