Job summary

Buchanan Community Schools is seeking a full-time Custodian for the 2nd shift to clean and maintain school buildings and grounds, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for students and staff. The role includes snow removal, cleaning tasks, and coordinating with the Custodial Coordinator.

Starting ASAP, with a 52-week calendar and benefits after probation. Reports to Michelle Trail, Custodial Coordinator, with responsibilities across floors, fixtures, and security.

Qualifications

• Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and communicate effectively.
• Mathematical Skills: Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers.
• Reasoning Ability: Ability to follow written and oral instructions and solve basic problems.
• Other Skills and Abilities: Ability to work in a friendly manner with coworkers and students, good communication, punctuality, and reliability.

Responsibilities

• Sweeps or shovels snow and salts icy steps as needed.
• Cleans and preserves designated spaces and equipment in the building.
• Assists visitors with directions and setup of equipment.
• Restocks supplies and reports inventory usage.
• Maintains safe working conditions for staff and students.
• Performs custodial duties including cleaning floors, fixtures, and surfaces.
• Repairs or reports items in need of repair and follows the work schedule.
• Maintains equipment and rotates weekend shifts.
• Maintains building security and operates custodial equipment.
