Job summary

Ames Community School District in Ames, IA is hiring for a 12-month, full-time custodian role with a 3:30pm-12:00am shift. You will clean and secure facilities, prepare spaces for activities, and coordinate with staff using radios and emails. Physical duties include lifting up to 50 lbs and winter grounds maintenance. Responsibilities

• Cleans and maintains assigned rooms throughout the building.

• Secures the building and performs lock-up duties.
• Manages work orders, email, timesheets and absences using a computer.
• Communicates with staff and community members via radio and cell phone.
• Maintains building grounds during winter conditions through snow removal and ice mitigation.

Work Schedule: 3:30pm-12:00am, Monday - Friday; 12-month position (year round)
Responsibilities/Essential Functions

• Cleans and maintains assigned rooms throughout the building.
• Assists in preparing the facility for evening and weekend activities.
• Secures the building and performs lock-up duties.
• Utilizes computers to enter work orders, manage email, and submit timesheets and absences.
• Communicates with staff and community members using a two-way radio and cell phone.
• Maintains building grounds during winter conditions through snow removal and ice mitigation.

Qualifications

• Ability to frequently lift, bend, shovel, and carry and move items up to 50 lbs. such as furniture, trash, and bags of ice melt.
• Effectively communicates both verbally and in writing.

Compensation: $16.80 per hour
