Job summary

General McLane School District seeks a 2nd-Shift Custodian to maintain clean, safe, and welcoming learning environments across district facilities. You will perform routine and specialized custodial duties, assist with facility upkeep, and help prepare buildings for daily operations and activities.

This full-time evening role reports to the Manager – Custodial Services, works Monday–Friday from roughly 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., and requires teamwork with staff, students, and vendors.

Responsibilities

2nd-Shift Custodian

REPORTS TO: Manager – Custodial Services

SCHEDULE: Monday–Friday; 8 hours/day; 2nd Shift, generally 3:00 p.m.–11:30 p.m.

FUNCTIONAL PURPOSE

The purpose of this position is to maintain clean, safe, sanitary, and welcoming learning and working environments throughout General McLane School District facilities. The 2nd-Shift Custodian performs routine and specialized custodial duties, assists with facility upkeep, and supports the preparation of buildings and spaces for daily operations and activities.

ESSENTIAL/CORE JOB FUNCTIONS

• Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of assigned rooms, common areas, restrooms, entrances, and other areas of district facilities.
• Perform tasks such as dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, cleaning surfaces, emptying waste containers, cleaning windows and mirrors, and replenishing supplies.
• Clean and maintain restrooms, fixtures, and other areas to appropriate sanitary standards.
• Remove and properly dispose of trash, debris, and other waste.
• Respond to spills and other cleaning needs in a timely manner.
• Perform periodic and corrective cleaning as needed, including floor care, carpet care, glass cleaning, wall cleaning, and other deep-cleaning activities.
• Operate and maintain custodial equipment and tools in a safe and effective manner.
• Maintain clean, organized, and appropriately stocked custodial supply areas.
• Assist with moving furniture, equipment, and other items as needed.
• Assist with building and event setup and cleanup.
• Identify and report maintenance, safety, security, or other facility concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
• Assist with seasonal grounds and weather-related duties, including snow removal and other outdoor maintenance as needed.
• Follow established safety procedures and appropriately use cleaning products, equipment, tools, and other materials.
• Work cooperatively with custodial staff, district employees, students, and others.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
