Job summary

Tempel Steel is seeking a Core Assembly Machine Operator for the 2nd shift in Chicago, IL. The role involves building stacks of steel laminations from blueprints, operating robotic weld cells and rivet machines, and ensuring precise measurements per QC guidelines.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required or preferred.
• Knowledge of LEAN manufacturing, 6S, Six Sigma is preferred.
• Experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment is preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and stand 8–10 hours.

Responsibilities

• Understand and follow written and verbal work instructions.
• Build stacks of steel laminations from blueprints/ drawings.
• Operate robotic weld cells, rivet insertion machines, grinders, and handling equipment.
• Measure components to ensure tolerances and record per QC requirements.
• Perform changeovers and maintain equipment, including tungsten electrodes.
