Job summary

Tempel Steel is seeking a Core Assembly Machine Operator for the 2nd shift to support the production of custom aluminum extrusions by cutting material per blueprints. The role involves assembling steel laminations using robotic weld cells and other tooling, with emphasis on accuracy and safety.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED, experience with manufacturing machinery, and familiarity with LEAN/Six Sigma.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience with manufacturing machinery preferred.
• LEAN, 6S, Six Sigma experience is a plus.
• Able to lift up to 40 pounds.
• Able to stand 8-10 hours.

Responsibilities

• Understand and follow written and verbal work instructions.
• Build stacks of steel laminations from blueprints/technical drawings.
• Use robotic weld cells, rivet insertion machines, angle grinders, and material handling equipment to assemble cores from steel laminations.
• Measure components and finished products with various devices to ensure tolerances.
• Complete changeovers using hand tools and maintain equipment including Tungsten electrodes.
• Troubleshoot machinery, materials, measuring equipment, and tooling.
• Visually inspect parts against blueprints/technical drawings and report defects.
• Maintain clean and orderly work areas and wear PPE.
• Run single hit presses, roll coating or related duties as assigned.
