Job summary

Qualdoc is seeking a CNC Machine Operator for the 2nd shift to process structural steel using automated cutting and drilling equipment in Richmond, VA. You will prepare materials, interpret fabrication drawings, check parts, and keep machines running safely and accurately.

Responsibilities include operating CNC plasma cutters, reviewing blueprints, positioning steel beams with cranes, adjusting settings, and inspecting parts with precision tools.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED; technical or trade training preferred.
• At least 2 years of CNC operation experience in structural steel fabrication or heavy manufacturing.
• Ability to read structural steel shop drawings and blueprints.
• Experience using precision measuring tools.
• Familiarity with overhead cranes, forklifts, and rigging preferred.
• Strong mechanical skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate with a team in a fast-paced production environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and operate CNC plasma cutters, beam drill lines, and angle lines.
• Review blueprints, shop drawings, and work orders before processing materials.
• Position and secure steel beams, plates, and other materials using overhead cranes and rigging equipment.
• Adjust machine settings and make basic program edits for different material sizes and thicknesses.
• Check finished components with tape measures, calipers, squares, and other measuring tools to confirm accuracy.
• Perform routine machine maintenance and troubleshoot operating issues.
• Follow OSHA requirements and shop safety procedures while maintaining an orderly work area.
