Job summary

Superior Thread Rolling Co. seeks a skilled CNC Machine Operator for the 2nd shift to perform turning, milling, drilling, and other machining on metal and nonmetal parts, using blueprints, layouts, and shop math.

You will learn to offset machines with supervisor help, monitor tools, load parts, and measure with micrometers and calipers to ensure tolerance compliance. We offer a $2.00 shift differential, a smoke-free workplace, and benefits including medical, dental, vision, 401(k) with company

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years' experience and/or trade school in CNC machining.
  • Experience operating CNC lathes and mills in an Aerospace machine shop setting.
  • Must be able to use micrometers and calipers.

Responsibilities

  • Offsets at machine to adjust tool into machining tolerances.
  • Reads and interprets blueprints, planning sheets, sketches, and related data to determine tooling requirements and sequences.
  • Load parts per instructions, set machine controls to position spindle and coolant flow.
  • Monitors machine operation to detect malfunctions; stops machine for tool changes or measurements.
  • Inspects and measures parts to maintain tolerances.
  • Cleans machine and performs maintenance as required.

POSITION SUMMARY:

CNC Machine operator of numerical control machines or machining centers to perform various functions, such as cutting, drilling, milling, reaming, boring, and broaching of metallic and nonmetallic workpieces, utilizing knowledge of machine tool capabilities, machinability of materials, and shop math. Will learn to Offsets machines, when necessary, with help from supervisor.

Our 2nd shift runs from 2:30 PM-11:00 PM.

This position offers a $2.00 Shift differential on top of the pay.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Offsets at machine to adjust tool into machining tolerances.
  • Is able to Operate Machines with Minimal help from the sup[ervisor
  • Reads and interprets blueprints, planning sheets, sketches, and related technical data to determine tooling requirements, setup procedures, and machining methods and sequences.
  • Must be able to identify problems and get supervisor to troubleshoot the possible fixes.
  • Load parts per instructions, counts parts and sets machine controls to position spindle in relationship to work piece and coolant flow.
  • Starts machine and monitors displays and machine operation to detect malfunctions.
  • Stops machine to change cutting tools or to measure parts for conformance to blueprint specifications, using precision measuring instruments.
  • May learn to enter commands to offset and adjusts machine controls to correct malfunctions or out‑of‑tolerance machining.
  • Operates machine and can stop machine when tool or program malfunctions.
  • Cleans machine, tooling, and parts.
  • Performs machine maintenance as required.
  • Communicates with co‑workers and supervisor to receive instructions and coordinate activities.
  • Inspects and measures parts to maintain statistical process control charts.
JOB QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

3-5 years' experience and/or trade school. Experience operating CNC lathes and mills in an Aerospace Machine shop setting, reads and interprets blueprints. Must be able to use micrometers, calipers, and some inspection tools. Experience operating the following machines is desirable:
