The Opportunity | Machinist - Large CNC Vertical Lathes (VTL) 2nd shift

With our continuing growth, Curtiss Wright is looking to add experienced Machinists to our new, state‑of‑the‑art Summerville, SC (Charleston) facility! This is a great opportunity for those with a strong CNC machining background and experience with Large Vertical Lathes to join CW's efforts to support the United States Navy and commercial customers.

Hourly: $32.40 - $46.82 Hourly

Your Challenge

• Set up and operate large vertical turret lathes to perform precision machining to tolerances within 0.001".
• Interpret blueprints, work instructions, and technical drawings to determine machining requirements.
• Measure, examine, and test completed units to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications.
• Select appropriate tooling and materials for each job.
• Maintain machines, perform minor repairs, and report mechanical issues to maintenance.
• Monitor the machining process and make necessary adjustments to feeds, speeds, and tooling.
• Document production and inspection results accurately.
• Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work environment.

Your Expertise

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Completion of a four‑year machinist apprenticeship or equivalent is an asset.
• Minimum of 3+ years in CNC machines experience operating vertical lathes.
• Experience operating Fives/G&L 1600, 2000, and Momentum 2500 is preferred.
• Ability to maintain acceptable quality and efficiency level and effectively communicate with others.
• Lifting objects weighing 50 pounds to waist height and transporting 10 feet.
• Due to DoD requirements, candidates must be US citizens.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain DoD Security clearances and approvals.
