Mestek Machinery in Cedar Rapids, IA is seeking a driven Machinist for 2nd shift to operate and program CNC mills and lathes, producing precision parts for our machines and tools. The role emphasizes accuracy, maintenance, and collaboration with engineering and production teams.
You will read blueprints, set up machines, monitor quality, and perform routine upkeep while adhering to safety standards. The position pays $20.00–$25.00/hour with a shift differential and benefits.
A 2nd shift machinist will operate manually controlled and computer numerically controlled (CNC) machine tools such as lathes and milling machines, to cut and produce precision parts for machines, instruments, and tools. They control the machinery that produces the speed and cuts to create a specific part. The machinist will also be responsible for performing basic maintenance on the machines and replacing dull or aged parts as necessary.
Overtime is based on business needs and is NOT mandatory. The rate of pay is based on prior work experience and schooling. Working outside first shift is a $1.50 shift differential. Skill blocks, available after the probationary period to test on, add up to additional $2.25 money per hour.

Hours: Monday-Thursday 4:30 p.m.-3:00 a.m.; OT hours available hours on Friday. Saturday hours noon-6:00 p.m. with a 4-hour minimum commitment.
Wage Range: $20.00-25.00 per hour, depending on experience/education.
The individual will regularly be required to stand. The individual will frequently be required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The individual will occasionally be required to sit; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The individual must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this role include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this role, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
