Job summary

Portland Public Schools is seeking a Building Custodian II for the 2nd shift (district wide) to maintain cleanliness and safety across facilities in Portland, Maine. The role requires physical labor, lifting, and adherence to district standards.

Responsibilities include cleaning, inventorying supplies, and operating maintenance equipment. This position runs Monday–Friday 2:30 PM–11:00 PM, with a permanent full-time contract under the BASE union, offering benefits eligibility.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability to lift at least 50 lbs.
• Willingness to perform manual labor and multitask.

Responsibilities

• Clean, dust, mop, disinfect, wash, polish, wipe and paint as needed.
• Receive/stock supplies and perform deliveries to offices.
• Strip/wax floors and operate cleaning equipment safely.
• Work from ladders, replace light bulbs and report hazards.
