Job summary

Haven Behavioral Hospital of Eastern PA is seeking a Full-time Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) for 2nd shift (3:00 PM–11:30 PM) with 5–8 hour shifts per week and occasional weekend/evening rotation. The BHT assists nursing staff to maintain a therapeutic milieu and supports patient care activities within the scope of training and experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred, but not required where state dictates.
• CNA certification or 6 months of bedside patient care experience preferred.
• Must complete BLS and Oceans approved behavioral de-escalation program.

Responsibilities

• Continually monitors unit rules and therapeutic milieu.
• Employ de-escalation and therapeutic interventions as needed.
• Inventory patient belongings and secure contraband; perform unit safety checks.
• Follow infection control policies and attend required in-services.
• Perform vital signs, weights, ADL, nutritional monitoring and report findings to the nurse.
• Assist with laundry, meals, bathroom functions and mobility as needed.
• Individualize care to age, disability, and cultural needs of patients.
• Document and communicate patient observations and outcomes to nursing staff.
