Job summary

Mercedes Benz Vans, LLC is seeking an Assembly Quality Gate Inspector for the 2nd shift to conduct in-process quality inspections on vans and document results. The role requires reading inspection checklists, data entry into computer systems, and communicating quality issues to production for effective resolution.

The candidate should have 2–3 years of manufacturing experience, knowledge of quality inspection methods, and strong teamwork and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years manufacturing process experience.
• Inspection experience preferred.
• Knowledge of quality inspection methods.
• Basic computer skills; MS Office.

• Assertiveness in difficult situations.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Read and comprehend checklist inspection points and locate the targeted area for inspection.
• Enter data into a computer unassisted.
• Identify, evaluate and determine the severity of a defect based on the Van Benchmark Catalog NQ rating scale.
• Conduct inspections within the established takt time.
• Input defects into QSYS and on FBK.
• Properly clear defects in QSYS and on the FBK.
• Inspect FBKs for conformance to stamping requirements.
• Identify the correct process owner for a defect and communicate with them.
• Verify correction of defects if/when corrected in-station.
• Determine next process step for vehicles with defects (light tunnel/EOL only).
