Job summary

Workforce in Minnesota is seeking an experienced 2nd Pressman to support envelope printing operations. You will assist with setup, operating, and maintaining a sheet-fed offset press to meet quality standards and throughput targets.

This full-time evening/night shift runs 7 PM to 7 AM on a rotating schedule. Compensation is $16 per hour plus comprehensive benefits, including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), holidays and paid vacations. COVID safety protocols are observed.

Qualifications

• General knowledge of offset printing press work procedures.
• Ability to read and follow job specifications to run the job correctly.
• Ability to operate equipment safely and produce the desired product.
• Ability to adjust feeder and feed board settings and timing.
• Ability to perform routine maintenance and minor repairs under supervision.

Responsibilities

• Assist Press Operator with setup, running, and maintaining the press.
• Adjust press components such as feeder, delivery, suction grippers, guides, and wheels.
• Replace worn rollers and adjust pressure between rollers as needed.
• Wash blankets and clean ink rollers and ink fountains.
• Make color or register corrections prior to production to meet quality specs.

Are you an experienced 2nd Pressman looking for a new opportunity?

In this position, you will aid in the envelope printing process to help meet company quality standards while maintaining optimum speeds and minimal downtime

Schedule:

Rotating 7 PM-7 AM

Pay Rate:

$16/hr

Essential Functions:

• Assist Press Operator with making ready, operating, and maintaining sheet-fed offset printing press. This includes inserting packing sheets on plate cylinders to build-up plates to printing height, fastening reinforcing bars to offset blankets, and installing plates and blankets on press cylinders, using hand tools to achieve the pressure required for printing.
• Adjust press machine parts, such as feeder and delivery mechanisms, suction grippers, guides, feed wheels, and jogging devices.
• Assist in removing and replacing worn rollers and adjusting pressure between rollers of press, using hand tools.
• Wash blankets and clean ink and ink distributing rollers and ink fountains, using ink solvent and cleaning mechanism on press.
• Assist Press Operator by making necessary color or register corrections and/or press adjustments prior to the production run to meet and maintain the quality specifications of the work

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Requires general knowledge of offset printing press work procedures and materials.
• Ability to read and follow job specifications to determine press set-up materials needed to run the job successfully.
• Skill to follow instructions to operate equipment safely and produce the desired product.
• Ability to adjust feeder and feed board (e.g., ability to adjust suctions and blast front and side guides, and the timing of the head stops).
• Skill in performing routine operational maintenance and minor repairs to equipment under the guidance of senior-level Press Operators.

Qualifications:

• High school or equivalent (Preferred)
• 2nd Pressman: 2 years (Preferred)
