Technique Inc is seeking a 2D Laser Technician for our Jackson, Michigan facility. The role involves operating, programming, and maintaining 2D laser cutting equipment, reading blueprints, and applying safe work practices.

The ideal candidate has 1–2 years of manufacturing experience with knowledge of metal finishing, blueprint reading, and laser operation; lead candidates require 3–4 years of 2D laser experience and the ability to train others and manage machine assignments.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; vocational training preferred.
• 1–2 years of manufacturing experience; advanced classes a plus.
• Lead: 3–4 years of 2D laser experience and ability to train others.

Responsibilities

• Maintain clean, organized work area.
• Evaluate cut quality to meet specifications.
• Log in/out of jobs using E2 software.
• Operate hand grinder and sander for metal finishing.
• Power up/down laser machines; follow lockout/tagout procedures.
• Load sheets and start/stop machine processes.
• Manage job folders and part storage.
• Load and delete machine programs; visualize cutting paths.
• Read blueprints and perform layouts on surfaces.
• Interpret and clear machine alarms; troubleshoot as needed.
• Adjust cut quality using manual overrides and software paths.
• Modify and document tech tables to optimize cuts.
• Perform preventative maintenance and optics alignment.
• Use material rainbow sheet to locate correct sheet stock.
