Job summary

Hilcorp Energy Company is seeking an experienced electrician to perform a wide range of electrical maintenance and repair across machinery, control systems, and high voltage equipment. The role includes reading schematics, estimating materials, and coordinating projects with safety as a priority.

Requirements include 3+ years in electrical maintenance, oil and gas field experience preferred, and ability to operate a bucket truck. On-call availability is required due to the nature of operations.

Qualifications

  • Three (3) years minimum experience required in electrical maintenance.
  • Oil and gas field experience preferred.
  • Experience operating a bucket truck to perform power line repairs and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of high voltage electricity, generator systems, switch gear, and safety training.
  • Ability to follow proper methods, procedures and safety precautions of line work.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems and equipment including engines, motors, lighting, generators, and control systems.
  • Inspect, test, calibrate, and adjust controls or meters used in the electrical system.
  • Read drawings, schematics, and specifications; estimate cost, time, and materials for electrical projects.
  • Oversee and coordinate electrical projects; ensure safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Troubleshoot electrical devices in operation and perform necessary repairs/modifications.

Job Objective

Performs a variety of semi-skilled and skilled technical and repair work in electrical repairs and in maintaining electrical elements of machinery and mechanical equipment, such as engines, motors, lighting, generators, control and safety systems, communication equipment and production machines and equipment

Essential Job Responsibilities
  • Performs skilled work installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems and equipment, including engines, motors, lighting, generators, control and safety systems, communication equipment, and production machines and equipment.
  • Performs skilled work in placing and removing electrical components as well as repairing wires, cable conduit, and various electrical components.
  • Performs installation, maintenance, and repairs of high voltage powerline systems, regulators, reclosers, capacitor banks, and substation equipment.
  • Installs electrical conduit, cable, and vaults.
  • Inspects, tests, calibrates, and adjusts various controls or meters used in the electrical system.
  • Maintains electrical wiring systems, as required per NEC.
  • Maintains safety practices and procedures.
  • Troubleshoots electrical devices in operation and makes necessary repairs/modifications.
  • Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts.
  • Performs electrical, instrument, analyzer, air conditioning, and heating repairs.
  • Reads and understands electrical drawings, schematics, and specifications.
  • Estimates cost, time, and materials for electrical projects.
  • Oversees and coordinates electrical projects.
  • Adheres to the company’s values – integrity, ownership, urgency, alignment and innovation.
  • Supports company vision and mission.
  • Adheres to established work schedule, attendance standards and is punctual to work and meetings.
Other Job Responsibilities
  • Assists lease operators as needed.
  • Maintains employee confidence and protects corporate assets, including intellectual property, by keeping information confidential.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
  • Three (3) years minimum experience required in electrical maintenance.
  • Preferred: Oil and gas field experience.
  • Preferred: Experience operating a bucket truck to perform power line repairs and maintenance.
  • Working knowledge of high voltage electricity, generator systems, switch gear, and safety training.
  • Working knowledge of methods, materials, and tools used in electrical repair and maintenance work.
  • Working knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trade.
  • Ability to follow proper methods, procedures and safety precautions of line work.
  • Ability to perform heavy manual tasks for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to accurately solve problems.
  • Ability to be available 24 hours per day (on call for questions, emergencies, etc.).
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, other departments, and the public.
  • Ability to complete multiple, diverse tasks of differing priorities.
Education Requirements

Graduation from a high school or GED equivalent or any equivalent combination of education and experience demonstrating sufficient knowledge, ability and skill to handle the duties and responsibilities of the position.
