Job summary

Hilcorp in Houston seeks a Settlement Accounting Analyst to manage nominations, imbalances, and invoicing while ensuring data integrity across operations, marketing, and revenue accounting.

The role requires extensive knowledge of oil and gas accounting systems, SAP EMK3, and strong data analysis skills. You will coordinate with Marketing, DO, and Revenue Accounting teams to keep financial bookings aligned with operational data.

Qualifications

  • Minimum five years in producer oil and gas accounting, data analysis, or related systems.

  • Experience with oil and gas accounting systems or ERP implementations.
  • Understanding of working interest contracts, balancing, and revenue processes.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Build forward month nominations and AFS statements for gassed marketing.
  • Resolve daily gas marketing questions related to status, ownership and marketing arrangements.
  • Prepare monthly sales variance analysis and explain major fluctuations.
  • Evaluate pricing/deductions and coordinate master‑data setup for revenue bookings.
  • Lead or assist implement of new EMK3 modules for gas TIK, imbalance feeds, and deal capture.
  • Process gas marketing invoicing for NGL and gas sales and tie invoices to plant statements.
  • Coordinate interdepartmental changes in TIK/JOA status and DO changes with gas marketing.
  • Collaborate with gas marketing, revenue, land, DO, production accounting, and IT teams.

Job description

Job Objective

We are seeking a detail‑oriented Settlement Accounting Analyst to manage the critical intersection of operations, marketing, accounting, and master data integrity. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring accurate nominations, imbalances, invoicing and reconciling complex sales data. You will serve as a key liaison between Marketing, Division Order (DO), and Revenue Accounting to ensure our financial bookings and operational data remain synchronized.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Build forward month nominations and Available for Sale (AFS) Statements to TIK marketers in EMK3 for gas marketing.
  • Resolve daily gas marketing questions and issues related to well completions operational status, ownership, and marketing arrangements.
  • Prepare sales variance analysis and explain major sales fluctuations for assigned properties monthly.
  • Evaluate pricing/deductions, coordinate subsequent PRA master‑data setup to achieve accurate revenue bookings for owners and regulatory agencies.
  • Perform special projects requiring knowledge of oil and gas revenue accounting.
  • Coordinate interdepartmental efforts for changes in TIK/JOA status, including managing contract change processes and resolving daily interdepartmental issues between DO and gas marketing.
  • Assist Marketing and Accounting in A&D activity.
  • Execute master‑data updates in SAP for:
    • Advise DO on changes to gas balancing owner/marketer/transporter.
    • Work with Non‑Op Revenue, DO, and Gas Marketing groups to facilitate Non‑Op TIK changes in decks, EMK3, and revenue processes.
  • Lead or assist in implementation of business functionality for new modules in EMK3 as needed for:
    • Marketing of non‑operated TIK positions.
    • Gas imbalance feeds, GBA agreement terms, and makeup/payback functionality.
    • Deal Capture to improve gas scheduling and invoicing processes.
  • Process gas marketing accounting invoicing for Gas and NGL sales out of EMK3, including gathering fees for aggregate and other special‑case wells.
  • Work with the revenue team to ensure marketing invoices are tied out to plant statements.
  • Collaborate closely with gas marketing, revenue, land, division order, production accounting, and IT teams to accomplish responsibilities.

Qualifications
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in producer oil and gas accounting, data analysis, or oil and gas systems implementation.
  • Excellent data analysis skills and ability to work with large volumes of data regardless of the software platform.
  • Excellent business analyst and facilitation skills to ensure success of interdepartmental responsibilities and challenges.
  • Excellent systems implementation skills or technical oil and gas accounting skills.
  • Understanding of the treatment of working interest owners from a gas contract allocation and balancing perspective, and ability to relate this to the overall interdepartmental process.
  • Ability to work independently without close supervision.
  • Ability to schedule work tasks to ensure on‑time completion.
  • Flexibility to change directions or project teams as needed.
  • Ability to work with all levels of the organization from staff accountants to executives.
  • Understanding of how to use software effectively to facilitate processes within the ERP or gas marketing system as well as outside the system.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with specific ability to present solutions in an organized manner.
  • Proficiency in the use and application of the following software:
    • Required: Microsoft Office (Expert Excel skills, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
    • SAP, Enertia, EMK3, or Quorum experience preferred.
    • Alteryx and SQL experience strongly preferred.
Education Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four‑year university or college with a major in accounting, data analysis, or information systems.
