Job summary

Northeast Technology Center District – Pryor Campus seeks a Classroom Substitute Teacher to support learning in the absence of the regular teacher.

Responsibilities include following lesson plans, maintaining a conducive learning environment, and adhering to district behavior policies. Immediate starting date and hourly compensation apply, with an emphasis on student safety and proper classroom management.

Qualifications

• Education: High School diploma or GED required; business school or some college preferred.
• Must have excellent human-relations skills with a friendly personality, especially when dealing with high school students.
• Knowledge of classroom management; ability to prioritize, exercise initiative, independent judgment, and discretion in performing duties.

Responsibilities

• Report to the school office at the beginning and end of the day to pick up and return required materials and schedules.
• Carry out the program of study prescribed in the lesson plans left by the classroom teacher.
• Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the students’ maturity and interests.
• Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and objectives as indicated in lesson plans.
• Employ instructional methods and materials that best meet lesson objectives.
• Maintain a neat and orderly classroom (straighten chairs, tables, etc.).
• Take attendance in accordance with school procedures.
• Indicate to students at the start of class the basic expectations for behavior in accordance with district policies.
• Ensure students are never left unattended.
• Know emergency evacuation routes for assigned classrooms.
• Know procedures for referring students with disciplinary problems.
• Know school procedures and regulations.
• Perform other related duties as directed by the Campus Director.

Compensation

Hourly rate of $16.00. Compensation varies: up to 3.25 hours ($52.00) or 6.50 hours ($104.00) based on $16.00 per hour.
