Job summary

High Grove Early Childhood Center in Grandview, MO seeks a part-time Paraprofessional to support the teacher and students in Early Childhood Special Services. Qualifications

• Must have one of the following: associate's degree or higher, 60 college credits, or Missouri-based paraprofessional assessments.
• Completed Missouri's 20-hour online substitute training program is available through Grandview C-4 School District.
• Assessment scores must meet the criteria listed above for eligibility.

Responsibilities

• Administer, score and record achievement and diagnostic tests as the teacher recommends for individual students.
• Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning of material or skills introduced by the teacher.
• Assist the teacher in devising strategies for reinforcing material based on individual student needs, interests and abilities.
• Operate and care for classroom equipment used for instructional purposes.
• Assist students to master equipment or instructional materials assigned by the teacher.
• Distribute and collect workbooks, papers, and other materials for instruction.
• Guide independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work set up by the teacher.
• Supervise students during drills, assemblies, play periods, and field trips.
• Assist with large group activities such as drill work, reading aloud, and storytelling.
• Read to students, listen to students read, and participate in other forms of oral communication.
• Assist students in the library media center.
• Check notebooks, correct papers, and supervise testing and make-up work as assigned.
• Check and record student attendance.
• Help students with clothing, lunch, snack and cleanup routines.
• Assist with wash-up and toilet routines.
• Alert the regular teacher to any problem or information about an individual student.
• Serve as a source of information for substitutes and maintain ethical confidentiality.
• Participate in in-service training and other duties as assigned.

Associate's degree or higher - Preferred

7 hours/day; 5 days per week

REPORTS TO:

Building principal, Special Education teacher

JOB GOAL:

To assist the teacher in achieving teaching objectives by working with individual students or small groups to help them achieve the skill levels of the class as a whole, and by assisting the teacher in providing a well-organized, smoothly functioning class environment in which students can take full advantage of the instructional program and available resource materials.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Administer, score and record such achievement and diagnostic tests as the teacher recommends for individual students.

• Assist the teacher in devising special strategies for reinforcing material or skills based on a sympathetic understanding of individual students, their needs, interests, and abilities.

• Maintain the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected of a fully licensed teacher.
• Participate in in-service training programs as assigned.
• Other related duties as assigned by Building administrator.

Salary: $20.23 to $25.21 Per Hour
