Job summary

Grandview C-4 School District is seeking a dedicated paraprofessional to support elementary and middle school classrooms in Grandview, MO. The role involves assisting teachers with instructional activities, supervising students, and helping with tests and daily classroom routines.

The successful candidate will hold an appropriate associate degree or higher, or equivalent credit, and meet state assessment requirements (ParaPro/Paraprofessional). Online training through Grandview is available.

Qualifications

• Candidate must meet one of the listed qualifications.
• ParaPro/Paraprofessional assessments must be passing for the appropriate date.
• Completion of Grandview C-4 online substitutetraining is acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Administer, score and record tests as directed by the teacher.
• Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning.
• Assist teacher with strategies tailored to individual needs.
• Operate and care for classroom equipment.
• Help students master instructional materials.
• Distribute and collect notebooks, papers and other materials.
• Guide independent study and enrichment work set by the teacher.
• Assist with supervision during drills, assemblies, play periods and field trips.
• Participate in large-group activities like drill work and reading aloud.
• Read to students, listen to reading, and engage in oral communication with students.
• Assist students in the library media center.
• Check notebooks, correct papers and supervise tests and make-up work.
• Record attendance, help with clothing and lunch routines.
• Assist with wash-up and toilet routines.
• Inform regular teacher of any student issues.
• Serve as information source for substitute teachers.
• Maintain high ethical standards and confidentiality.
• Participate in in-service training as assigned.
• Other related duties as assigned by Building administrator.

Job description

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

7hours/day; 188 days/school term

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must have one of the following:

• Associate's degree or higher - Preferred
• 60 College credit
• Missouri ParaPro Assessment passing score (before September23, 2013)
• Missouri Paraprofessional Assessment passing score (after September 23, 2013), Or
• Completed Missouri's 20-hour online substitutetraining program - Available through Grandview C-4 School District - Online

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Administer, score and record such achievement and diagnostic tests as the teacher recommends for individual students.
2. Work with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of material or skills initially introduced by the teacher.
3. Assist the teacher in devising special strategies for reinforcing material or skills based on a sympathetic understanding of individual students, their needs, interests, and abilities.
4. Operate and care for equipment used in the classroom for instructional purposes.
5. Assist students to master equipment or instructional materials assigned by the teacher.
6. Distribute and collect workbooks, papers, and other materials for instruction.
7. Guide independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work set up and assigned by the teacher.
8. Assist with the supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies, play periods, and field trips.
9. Assist with such large group activities as drill work, reading aloud, and story-telling.
10. Read to students, listen to students read, and participate in other forms of oral communication with students.
11. Assists students in the library media center.
12. Check notebooks, correct papers, and supervise testing and make-up work as assigned by the teacher.
13. Check and record student attendance.
14. Help students with their clothing.
15. Assist student with lunch, snack, and cleanup routines.
16. Assist student with wash-up and toilet routines.
17. Alert the regular teacher to any problem or special information about an individual student.
18. Serve as the chief source of information and help to any substitute teacher assigned in the absence of the regular teacher.
19. Maintain the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected of a fully licensed teacher.
20. Participate in in-service training programs as assigned.
21. Other related duties as assigned by Building administrator.
