Department Overview: The Criminology & Criminal Justice department offers a dynamic curriculum and supports undergraduate training in legal, sociological, and policy aspects of criminal justice.
Instructors will teach undergraduate courses listed in the department catalog or other courses identified by the department to meet student educational goals.
Temporary faculty are required to follow university and system-wide policies as directed in the Academic Policy Manual (Section 306, paragraph 2). Responsibilities include preparing, delivering, conducting, proctoring, and grading lectures, office hours, homework, quizzes, class projects, and midterm and final exams. All classes must be offered and meet as scheduled throughout the semester in the mode (asynchronous, synchronous, in‑person, or hybrid) designated in the class schedule.
Appointments are contingent upon budget, enrollment, and the "Order of Work" provisions of the collective bargaining agreement between California State University and the California Faculty Association. Appointees must demonstrate eligibility to work in the United States (Fresno State is not a sponsoring agency for Temporary Faculty positions).
Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience within the CSU Salary Schedule (Class Code 2358 for Academic Year Lecturers). The salary range for a Master’s holder is $5,507–$6,677 per month when teaching full time (15 WTUs). Starting salaries are typically near the minimum; actual monthly pay is adjusted based on WTUs per term.
The temporary faculty pool remains open as needs arise. Positions will be filled prior to the start of each term and remain available for two academic terms; candidates must reapply thereafter.
Master’s degree in Criminology, Criminal Justice, or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
