An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and experienced Senior Charge Nurse (Band 7) to join the Paediatric Acute Receiving Unit at the Royal Hospital for Children and Young People.

We are looking for an inspirational leader who is caring, compassionate and motivated to join our strong, empowered and highly skilled nursing team.

The Senior Charge Nurse will have responsibility for the clinical area, providing professional, clinical and managerial leadership to ensure the delivery of safe, effective and person-centred care.

Working closely with the multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for:

• Leading and managing the nursing team, including recruitment, supervision and staff development
• Ensuring delivery of high-quality, safe and effective care in line with national and local standards
• Supporting patient flow within an acute environment and maintaining patient safety
• Driving quality improvement, governance and service development initiatives
• Promoting a positive team culture aligned with NHS Lothian values

The successful candidate will be a Registered Children’s Nurse, educated to degree level (or working towards), with significant experience in acute paediatrics and a strong track record in leadership and service improvement.

Excellent communication, organisational and leadership skills are essential, alongside a commitment to delivering high standards of care and supporting staff wellbeing.
