Job summary

NHS Lothian Pharmacy & Medicines Service in Edinburgh is seeking a Specialist Clinical Pharmacist (Band 7) to provide autonomous pharmaceutical care for Edinburgh’s community hospitals, including Ellen’s Glen, Findlay, and Ferryfield. The role supports rehabilitation services within NHS Lothian.

You will work as the lead pharmacist in a multidisciplinary team, with strong links to Royal Edinburgh Hospital and REAS, delivering high-quality clinical pharmacy services and leadership in prescribing

Qualifications

• Master of Pharmacy Degree or equivalent required.
• Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) required.
• Completion of or equivalent competence mapped to the Post-Registration Foundation Pharmacist Framework.
• Experience influencing prescribing to improve patient care and optimise medication use.

Responsibilities

About The Role

This is a semi-autonomous pharmacist role, where you will be the pharmacist providing Pharmacy support for Edinburgh’s community hospitals which consist of Ellen’s Glen Community Hospital (34 beds) Findlay Community Hospital (45 beds) and Ferryfield Hospital (48 beds) delivering high-quality clinical pharmacy services to patients undergoing rehabilitation. You will also be expected to provide some resilience cover for the Edinburgh H@H service. While working independently as the dedicated pharmacist in the multidisciplinary team, you will also have close alignment with the wider clinical pharmacy team with Royal Edinburgh Hospital and Associated Services (REAS) and across NHS Lothian, ensuring strong professional support and development.

• Optimising medicines use through the systematic identification and resolution of pharmaceutical care issues.
