Position Overview
The Production Supervisor acts as the main point of contact between production employees on the manufacturing floor and management. They collaborate with the management team and HR to hire, train, and coach employees, as well as assist in staffing forecasts.
Key Responsibilities
- Schedule daily workflow for employees and materials, ensuring sustainable operations and clear expectations for Day or Swing shifts.
- Supervise all production activities, maintaining visibility and accessibility to employees throughout the shift.
- Forecast staffing needs to meet peak demands; train, motivate, coach, reward, and discipline staff with guidance from the Production Manager; resolve personnel issues, involving HR when necessary.
- Establish and uphold department standards for productivity, quality, reliability, on-time delivery, and accuracy.
- Coordinate with quality control to maintain standards and address deficiencies.
- Collaborate with HR and Division Management on personnel matters, including vacation, overtime, hiring, and training.
Additional Functions
- Assist in developing and implementing policies and procedures, ensuring compliance.
- Resolve production-related issues in coordination with Sales and Customer Service.
- Maintain knowledge of operating systems relevant to the work area.
- Manage safety programs and ensure all safety training is completed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Production Manager.
Qualifications
- 2-4 years of manufacturing experience in crating, packing, warehousing, or similar industries.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish.
- Proven supervisory skills, including motivating and training staff.
- Excellent communication skills in English and Spanish.
- Proficiency in MS Office; ability to learn new software (e.g., Sage, Ops Center, Crate Maker).
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Self-motivated with a commitment to excellence.
- Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities.
- Understanding of safety requirements and promotion of a safety culture.
- Willing to work evenings and weekends.
- Reliable transportation.
Physical Requirements
- Standing and walking for up to 8 hours daily.
