Production Supervisor Job Description Summary:

Supervises shop employees in a manufacturing environment: plans and assigns work, implements policies and procedures and recommends improvements in production methods, equipment, operating procedures and working conditions.This position will be in charge of all second shift employees , as well as CNC Grind on first shift.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage the activities of the shop floor, under the direction of the Manufacturing and Maintenance Manager and follow established procedures and approved processes.
  • Supervise machining production operations.
  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate departmental activities to fulfill sales orders, meet inventory requirements, and deliver manufactured products in a timely fashion.
  • Supervise all assigned employee hiring and retention, performance review and discipline.
  • Ensures effective employee relations; provides employee coaching and development; resolves employee issues through problem resolution.
  • Balances quality, productivity, cost, safety and morale to achieve positive results in all areas; works to continuously improve in all areas.
  • Manages departmental performance measures, including visual controls and provides regular progress reports to manager.
  • Performs accident investigations.
  • Manages department priorities and tracks absenteeism and time-keeping.
  • Quality orientation and attention to detail and an ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • An ability to balance and achieve positive results in the areas of safety, quality, productivity, cost and employee relations.

Education and Experience Requirements

A.S. or A.A. (Associate’s Degree) or equivalent from an accredited college, university or other educational institution in Industrial Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering or other technical discipline; four or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience desired, Equivalent work experience accepted.
