Overview:

The classroom teacher shall be directly responsible to the building principal for the performance of assigned duties. The primary responsibility is to develop an instructional environment and employ teaching strategies that achieve the district goals for students' cognitive, affective, and psychomotor development.

Qualifications:

The candidate must hold a valid Illinois teaching certificate endorsed for middle grades Math and Science.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

1. Plan instructional programs for each student, incorporating diagnosis, prescription, and evaluation.
2. Meet and instruct assigned classes at designated times and locations.
3. Create a conducive learning environment appropriate to students' maturity, interests, and abilities.
4. Prepare for classes and show evidence of preparation upon request.
5. Maintain appropriate classroom behavior standards, enforce rules fairly, and develop classroom rules.
6. Employ diverse instructional techniques and media suitable for the physical setting and student needs.
7. Implement the district's educational philosophy, goals, and objectives.
8. Take precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
9. Assess student progress regularly, provide progress reports, and communicate with parents as needed.
10. Maintain accurate records as required by law and policy.
11. Uphold school rules, regulations, and policies.
12. Be available to students and parents outside instructional hours when necessary.
13. Participate in building and district meetings to promote effective communication.
14. Serve on district committees related to curriculum and instruction.
15. Attend school-sponsored activities.
16. Contribute to district decisions on budget, facilities, curriculum, and professional development.
17. Establish open communication with students and parents regarding academic and behavioral progress.
18. Supervise assignments for aides, student teachers, and volunteers.
19. Maintain cooperative relations with colleagues and stakeholders.
20. Participate actively in the teacher evaluation process.
21. Pursue ongoing professional growth through reading, workshops, seminars, and coursework.
22. Perform additional responsibilities as assigned, adhering to core teacher expectations.
