Job summary

QualityAI, a leading AI-powered quality engineering company, seeks a Graduate Engineer / Junior QA Engineer in Chicago, IL. This early-career role is designed for recent graduates or those with up to 3 years of manual testing experience who want to grow in QA.

You will design and execute manual tests, track defects in Jira, and collaborate with developers and business analysts in a hybrid workspace, with onsite work as required.

Job Overview

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Graduate Engineer / Junior QA Engineer to join our Quality Engineering team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career professional or recent graduate who has a basic understanding of software testing, is eager to learn, and wants to build a career in Quality Engineering.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Design, review, and execute manual test cases based on business requirements.
• Identify, document, track, and validate defects using tools such as Jira.
• Collaborate with developers, business analysts, and QA team members to resolve issues.
• Identify requirement gaps and potential issues early in the development cycle.
• Participate in daily stand-ups, provide progress updates, and proactively communicate blockers.
• Maintain test documentation and contribute to knowledge-sharing activities.
• Take ownership of assigned tasks and contribute to overall team quality objectives.

Must-Have Requirements

• Basic understanding of Software Quality Assurance (QA) or Quality Engineering (QE) concepts.
• 0–3 years of manual testing experience. Recent graduates with relevant academic projects or training are welcome.
• Familiarity with test case design, test execution, and defect tracking tools such as Jira.
• Good analytical, problem‑solving, and attention‑to‑detail skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to learn quickly, take ownership, and work effectively within a team.
• Willingness to work onsite at the Chicago office as required.
• Reliable internet access and a suitable workspace when working remotely.

Good-to‑Have Skills

• Experience testing web and mobile applications (iOS and Android).
• Basic knowledge of browser debugging (Chrome, Safari, Firefox).
• Exposure to API testing tools such as Postman.
• Familiarity with POS systems, gaming applications, or payment terminals.
• Knowledge of Excel, Google Workspace, Jira, Teams, or Slack.
• Previous experience in retail, hospitality, customer service, or other collaborative environments.
