Job summary

The City of Blue Springs Public Works Department is seeking a hands-on Streets Maintenance Technician to support city streets upkeep. You will operate equipment, perform repairs, and assist in preventive maintenance as part of a on-call team providing 24/7 response.

The role requires a High School diploma or equivalent and a valid Class A CDL with endorsements, with 6 months to 1 year of related experience.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED or equivalent education.
Valid Class A CDL with endorsements or ability to obtain within 6 months.
Six months to one year of related field or general labor experience.
Ability to read and interpret instructions and drawings.
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and lift up to 80 pounds.

Responsibilities

Operates equipment used in street maintenance: tractors, dump trucks, snow plows, loaders, excavators, backhoes, and more.
Repairs and maintains assigned city utility infrastructure and equipment.
Performs maintenance and repair work and purchases needed items for repair.
May lead a crew on a specific job site and participate in safety trainings.
Responds to emergency calls after hours and participates in winter snow removal.
Uses GIS/work order systems and coordinates with the Streets Division.
