Job summary

W. R. Grace, a global catalyst and engineered materials leader, seeks an Operations Leader for its Curtis Bay, MD facility.

This on-site role reports to the Operations Manager and oversees shift supervisors while coordinating with the plant leadership team. The position requires directing cross-functional teams to resolve challenges safely and efficiently. Responsibilities include leading production, safety and quality initiatives, ensuring policy compliance, planning staffing, and mentoring

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or GED.
• 5+ years’ experience in industrial manufacturing.
• Mechanical or process controls skills or hands-on with large machinery.

Responsibilities

• Lead manufacturing employees to safely operate the plant and meet production, quality, safety and environmental goals.
• Walk the production floor throughout the day, engage the workforce, observe operations and identify issues.
• Ensure the plant complies Federal, State, Local, Grace and Union policies and procedures.
• Balance resources and staffing levels for each shift based on standards and needs.
• Proactively anticipate scenarios increasing risks to safety or production and develop action plans.
• Collaborate with training ensuring employees are properly trained and records are maintained.
• Hire, onboard, train, develop and coach direct reports to lead their teams.
• Facilitate adherence to daily/weekly operations production plans.
• Analyze and investigate production losses or safety incidents to identify root causes.
• Maintain a positive working environment, resolve personnel conflicts.
• Lead Operations in plant shutdown activities and support Job Hazard Analyses.
• Participate in production planning inputs such as capacity and shutdown schedules.
• Triage production upsets and escalate issues to management as needed.
• Record and analyze area operational and financial results.
• Coordinate and prioritize work in the area.
• Serve as backup to the Operations Manager.
• Any other duty assigned by manager.
• Must be able to work in a 24/7 operation, including on call and off-shift.
