Job summary

FuelCell Energy seeks an experienced EH&S Specialist to champion safety across extended, overnight, and rotating shifts. You will provide hands-on oversight, conduct real-time JHAs, and lead safety walk-throughs, ensuring compliance and reporting across multi‑site east region operations.

The role emphasizes emergency response, KPI tracking, and documentation, reporting to the EH&S Coordinator, with strict adherence to OSHA regulations and environmental standards.

Qualifications

• Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety or related field.
• Experience: 2–4 years of direct EH&S experience in industrial/operational setting.
• Certifications: OSHA 30‑Hour General Industry; First Aid/CPR/AED.
• Knowledge: OSHA 29 CFR 1910; RCRA; EPCRA; NFPA; LOTO.
• Skills: Strong written and verbal communication; ability to influence; MS Office; EH&S record keeping.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary on-site EH&S resource during extended, overnight, and rotating shifts.
• Conduct shift-start safety JHAs and communicate critical controls.
• Perform shift safety walkthroughs; inspect equipment, housekeeping, PPE, and egress routes.
• Monitor fatigue and initiate fit-for-duty protocols as required.
• Respond to incidents; administer first aid and activate emergency response plans.
• Maintain shift safety log and incident data; support RCA for injuries/near-misses.
• Enter incident data into OSHA 300/301 and EH&S databases; track corrective actions.
• Coordinate contractor EH&S prequalification and site orientation during extended shifts.
• Identify trends in incident data; present findings and recommendations.
