Job summary

Valero Energy is seeking a Network Operator in San Antonio to manage 24/7 alarm response, incident analysis, and level 1–2 I/S services across Valero locations. The role includes on-site work, shift rotations, and building automation of operational tasks.

Responsibilities include monitoring infrastructure alarms, creating and troubleshooting scheduled jobs, and advancing automation initiatives while documenting procedures and runbooks for efficient service delivery.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• 2+ years of experience in a Technology or Network Operations Center in a large enterprise environment.
• 2+ years of experience with first level administration and troubleshooting of Windows Servers, virtual machines, and Telecom Circuits.
• Able and willing to work on-site, in-person at the Valero San Antonio location, required.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and respond to alarms from Valero I/S infrastructure and applications.
• Open and facilitate support calls with third party providers.
• Create, monitor, and troubleshoot scheduled jobs.
• Resolve incidents independently and assist with complex incident troubleshooting and resolution.
• Execute well-documented operational tasks transitioned from Level 2/3 teams.
• Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to identify and automate repetitive tasks.
• Maintain and improve runbooks and knowledge base documentation.
• Contribute to Valero’s automation initiatives by supporting scripting, orchestration, and process improvement efforts.
• Follow ITIL based service management processes (Change, Incident, Request).
